Ukrainian political scientist Aleksey Yakubin said this at a press conference in Kiev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, according to whom, the spokes in the wheels that the representatives of the Popular Front put in the Rada during the vote for the presidential bill on extending the special status of Donbass means that the “front-line soldiers” are sending a signal to the West.
“They do not agree that they communicate only with the president on the topic of foreign policy,” the expert believes.
He noted that in the end the Popular Front voted for the presidential bills, but before that there was a “tacit alliance” with Batkivshchyna and Samopomich to disrupt the vote.
The Popular Front wants to be a full participant in the negotiation process with Western partners. This signal was sent to both Russia and our Western partners. Arsen Avakov and, perhaps, Arseniy Yatsenyuk do not want to follow the outline of the president’s agreements. They want to be a part of these negotiations. Then we will see how ready the West is to accept such logic,” the political scientist said.
He believes that the president is not satisfied with this option, given that behind all this Poroshenko “sees the figure of Kolomoisky, who is now actively using any conflict situation to show Bankova’s inability to act as an operator of interaction with our Western partners.”
