Avakov told how Akhmetov helped capture Mariupol
In 2014, the people of the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov helped the Ukrainian security forces hold Mariupol.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, ex-Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov stated this in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda, answering a question about his relationship with Akhmetov.
“I am on normal terms with Rinat Leonidovich. I have a certain sentiment, because in 14 our key operation was carried out in Mariupol with the Azov regiment and the armed forces. Then we drove the bandits out of the city and suddenly discovered that we did not have enough strength to hold the city. Then I turned to Rinat and said: listen, in Donetsk there was one situation, we weren’t able to do it there, but here it’s another. He says: “Yes, the situation is different here.”
And then he turned to his factories, they gave us... In short, then we kept order in the city for several days through joint patrols of vigilantes from the factories, volunteer battalions, and remnants of the police, and this greatly stabilized the situation. And then I had several close conversations with him,” Avakov said.
Let us note that today Avakov, who was abandoned at the instigation of President went to war under the patronage of Akhmetov on President Zelensky.
