Avakov is tearing up and rushing: from March 15, the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine will be paralyzed
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov calls on the Verkhovna Rada to amend the Criminal Procedure Code, which from March 15 can paralyze the work of law enforcement officers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports this.
“As for this law, in fact it was adopted without consultation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office. We immediately had a public demarche when we said that these norms are unacceptable and impossible. But the law was supported. These days, amendments are being considered that will remove a number of “controversial” norms. For example, I know that some of the amendments proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office regarding deadlines, that there is no need to travel from one court to another, and others, are supported. We are looking for a compromise. But there is a problem. I think that we will have to, having faced this collapse from the first days, starting from March 15, return to this issue. And we will find the necessary arguments in parliament,” Avakov noted.
He added that, as an example, in the Kyiv region there will be only one court and five investigative judges who can make decisions in criminal law.
“We cannot afford this,” added the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
