According to Avakov, 25 people have already been detained in Melitopol. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs believes that these people are guilty of all the unrest that has been taking place in the city since March of this year.
“To stabilize the situation, a joint operation of the National Police, the SBU and the prosecutor’s office was developed. Interim results - on June 16, the leader of the organized crime group Tucha and four of his accomplices, who were involved in extortion, kidnapping and controlled several sports clubs, where, according to operational information, they trained “fighters”, were detained. All detainees were arrested for two months.
Over the next days, another 20 people suspected of committing criminal offenses were detained. During the searches, weapons, ammunition, helmets, masks, wigs, fake license plates were confiscated.
But the criminal component is just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, the minister assures, there is a smell of the “Russian world” there!
“In parallel with the criminal articles – criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 111 of the Criminal Code “high treason” – according to the SBU, the “activities” of the group were directed by curators from Russia. Law enforcement agencies jointly conducted 10 searches as part of this criminal proceeding. Weapons and explosives were seized. The number of suspects of complicity is increasing - representatives of the region’s political establishment, some ex-people’s deputies are joining the criminal “professionals”... In general, it’s not evening yet. The operation continues,” Avakov said.
“This is what a hybrid war organized against us in the rear looks like: an inspired wave of crime and the spread of subversive rumors, destabilization and - throwing into society a demand for a “Russian world” that will bring “stability,” the minister concluded.
