“The actions of fighters trained in Novi Petrivtsi, Kyiv region, at combat posts in Slavyansk are very effective and professional,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

“I believe that the second battalion will be formed and the National Guard will become the basis of the armed forces of internal order,” the minister’s press service quotes.

As Navigator reported, the commander of the National Guard, Stepan Poltorak, said that “the soldiers of the National Guard have practically cleared Slavyansk of terrorists.” The SBU stated that the ATO forces took half of the city under control. At the same time, militias and local residents deny this information.
