Avakov: “The likelihood of Putin’s attack on Ukraine is even higher than in 2014”
Even a 100-strong Russian army should not frighten united Ukrainians who are ready to repel the “aggressor.”
This was stated by the participants of the round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia is preparing a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian state. And to the extent that we are united inside, to the extent that the Ukrainian nation is strong and united, Putin will have more fear of Ukraine,” declared former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
However, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov began to frighten those present with the scale of the “enemy’s” forces and said that the threat of attack today is much more serious than ever before.
“Here are very recent data: now 54 battalion tactical groups of the Russian Armed Forces are deployed near the border with Ukraine - that’s about 100 thousand professional military personnel,” Avakov stated.
He clarified that he is not scaring, but warning.
“In my opinion, the likelihood of a full-scale Russian invasion is now even higher than in 2014. I'm not saying this to scare you, but to prepare you. May God and our unity protect us from war. Even if the risks we are talking about do not materialize, if you want peace, prepare for war,” the ex-minister urged.
In turn, the former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly decided to encourage the participants of the round table.
“I’ll tell you some positive news - this is Russia’s last chance to do something against Ukraine. Because the last arguments are weapons. If there is nothing more to offer, it is a complete failure. We will stand now, we will win in the future,” Chaly urged not to lose heart.
