The helicopters will be deployed in the regions of Ukraine in such a way that they will be able to fly to the scene of the incident as soon as possible. Particular attention will be paid to the use of new rescue means in the area of the Joint Forces Operation zone, in the Carpathians, and the coastal zone along the Azov and Black Seas,” Gerashchenko wrote.
According to the agreement, the French side will train hundreds of Ukrainian pilots, create a service center and a base for major repairs of helicopters in Ukraine, as well as a logistics base with a spare parts warehouse.
According to Gerashchenko, the signing of the agreement, which has yet to be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada, “was preceded by work to study the world experience of using helicopters to save lives in various areas of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Proposals from Italian, French, and American companies were studied.”
The project, worth a total of 551 million euros, will be financed through loans provided by the French government and a group of European banks.
