Avakov announced the destruction of 20 terrorists in Mariupol
Mariupol, May 09 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that in Mariupol the city department building was attacked by 60 people armed with automatic weapons.

“A group of terrorists of about 60 people, armed with automatic weapons, launched an attack on the city police department. There was an attempt to seize the building, without any preliminary demands. There was a fight in the building. Which turned into a full-scale military clash, upon the arrival of reinforcements from the Armed Forces and the Omega unit of the National Guard. As a result of the battle, in which units of the National Guard, the Armed Forces, and the special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Azov” participated, a significant part of the terrorist group was destroyed,” Avakov wrote on his Facebook page.
“About 20 terrorists were killed, 4 were captured. A significant part of the attackers, throwing down their weapons, disappeared into the residential areas of the city. Our losses - one killed, 5 wounded. Losses in the armed forces are being clarified. The city department building is engulfed in flames,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
At the same time, Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko reported on his Facebook page: “Snipers killed our commander of the Dnepropetrovsk Territorial Defense Brigade, Sergei Demidenko. The commander of the military unit of the National Guard, Sergei Savinsky, was seriously wounded.”
“The head of the Mariupol police, Valery Androshchuk, who did not betray his oath and held out to the last, was kidnapped by terrorists. One retiree tried to take him out of the burning police department building in a car. Their car was cut off by a jeep, the militants wounded the driver with a knife, and Androshchuk was stuffed into the trunk and taken away in an unknown direction,” Lyashko said.
As Navigator reported, a shootout took place near the city department in Mariupol. Eyewitnesses say that civilians were injured. A column of Ukrainian armored vehicles passed through the city center. One of the armored personnel carriers was recaptured by DPR supporters. Now barricades are being built near the city council building. Doctors reported three killed and 25 wounded.
