Avakov was suspected of playing along with Saakashvili
Saakashvili’s breakthrough across the state border of Ukraine could have been carried out with the support of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, writes the magazine “Ukrainian Week”.

“Sometimes there was a feeling that everything that was happening on the Ukrainian-Polish border was someone’s evil plan. It’s as if Saakashvili’s entire odyssey was specially arranged in such a way as to make the government appear as helpless and stupid as possible, and the Georgian president as the king of the episode. And such suspicions are not unfounded,” the publication notes.
It is also indicated that there is a version of the involvement of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who previously had a conflict with Mikheil Saakashvili, in the incident.
“According to the people’s deputies who accompanied Saakashvili in Poland, it was Avakov who pushed the story of deprivation of citizenship, who got the president to sign the corresponding decree and thus framed Poroshenko,” the publication claims. – This version is also supported by the fact that it was Avakov’s subordinates who prevented Saakashvili from entering Ukraine and did everything to make the story as scandalous as possible. For example, Intercity in Przemysl was detained after its staff received a message from the National Police that there was a person on the train who was prohibited from entering Ukraine. This is exactly the message that was heard over the loudspeaker when the train was standing at the platform.
And although the police later denied Intercity’s delay, no one believed this denial. Subsequently, Saakashvili was opposed by the State Border Service. It is striking that in both cases he met obstacles specifically in such a way as to inconvenience the maximum number of ordinary people, instead of detaining only the former Georgian president.”
According to the magazine, if Avakov was really involved in Saakashvili’s breakthrough, then he managed to ensure that President Poroshenko became the main object of criticism in this situation, while the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs himself was mentioned much less often in this regard.
