Kiev political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The key danger for Bankova was that Avakov is the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the power apparatus is concentrated in his hands, which can be used against Poroshenko himself. We remember that Avakov also controls volunteer battalions, which is also no secret. We saw their trips to Poroshenko’s residence, we saw the reception they gave him in Bykivna. In essence, Poroshenko was shown a demo version of what could happen in the fall. At Bankova they decided that it was necessary to sort out the alliance [Tymoshenko and Avakov] as quickly as possible,” the expert said.
He recalled that in the summer they began to initiate criminal cases against people close to Avakov.
“As a person who does not have much courage, Avakov quickly folded his paws in front of Bankova. But one statement that he is ready to carry out all the valuable instructions of Pyotr Alekseevich and that he has broken all ties with Tymoshenko is not enough. Accordingly, Bankovaya is handling the latest rumors about Avakov’s meeting with Tymoshenko, so that Avakov, as they say, publicly swears and signs in blood allegiance to the president,” Korneychuk believes.
According to him, what is being exaggerated in the media today is not the beginning, but the end and the “death throes” of the alliance between Avakov and Tymoshenko.
