Avakov police grappled with women using special equipment
A video was circulated online showing how Ukrainian police officers are trying to detain a young woman, while another woman, of retirement age, prevents them from doing so.
The incident occurred in Kremenchug, Poltava region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Against the backdrop of a scuffle between women and law enforcement officers, the camera also catches a man behaving inappropriately, who subsequently runs away from the scene. Witnesses to the incident shouted that the woman had a child at home, while the police tried to twist her hands behind her back.
A pensioner also attacked the patrol officers, and one of the law enforcement officers sprayed her in the face with a spray can. It is possible that special equipment was also used against the young woman, since there were calls from outside for the police to let the girl wash herself before arresting her.
“On July 12, at about 21 p.m., while patrolling along Kievskaya Street, patrol officers discovered a group of people drinking alcoholic beverages in a public place; by their actions, citizens violated Article 178 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The latter behaved suspiciously, therefore, in accordance with Article 34 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police,” inspectors conducted a superficial check, during which one of the citizens was found to have substances, probably of narcotic origin,” the patrol chief commented on the incident to the local publication “KremenchukToday.” Kremenchug police Alexander Borzenko
“The patrol officers reported the arrest of a citizen. At the same time, two unknown women approached the police and rudely demanded an explanation and used obscene language. The police, in accordance with Article 36 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police,” demanded that they leave the territory they had determined in order to preserve traces of the offense,” said the police official.
According to him, the women ignored “legal demands” and began to “strike police officers.”
“According to Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine on the National Police, inspectors were forced to use special means and detained one of them. An investigative and operational team was called to the scene to further qualify the actions of citizens.
To date, criminal proceedings have been initiated on this fact under Article 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code,” added Borzenko.
