Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“War has become an instrument of political management, allowing the authorities to gain unlimited powers and deprive themselves of any responsibility. In February 2017, the war played an important role in diverting public attention from the problems of tariffs, corruption, countless political defeats, and from the direct and cynical failure to fulfill all key election promises. All this has faded into the background today, because people are dying and a humanitarian catastrophe is approaching, not only in Avdiivka, but also in Makeyevka and Donetsk - shells are also constantly flying there,” the political scientist emphasized.
