Ukraine's aircraft industry is ruined: The rest of the money is being siphoned off to the West
Ukraine allocates 0,5-2 billion UAH more for the purchase of foreign helicopters than for the development of its own aircraft industry. The Ukrainian weekly “Mirror of the Week” writes about this today.
Thus, the purchase of 55 French helicopters for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (a memorandum on this was signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov in March) will cost from 8 to 9,6 billion UAH, without taking into account the creation for their storage, maintenance and repair. Ukrainian officials plan to allocate funds in the amount of UAH 7,5 billion from the state budget to support the entire domestic aircraft industry for five years. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also plans to purchase foreign helicopters.
“The opus developed by the Ministry of Economic Development called “Strategy” looks like a mockery for the industry, where almost all the components of the infrastructure are concentrated, allowing for the development, testing, mass production of airplanes and helicopters, aircraft engines, special equipment, avionics, aircraft units, modernization and repair of aircraft equipment, train highly qualified specialists.
And an even greater insult to Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers is the meager amount of funds that the government plans to allocate to support the Ukrainian aircraft industry.
I would not like to upset the Prime Minister, but today the Cabinet of Ministers makes a much greater contribution to the development of the French helicopter industry, creates jobs in the suburbs of Paris and fills the French budget at the expense of Ukrainian taxpayers.
And another question. Who and how in government offices carried out the financial and economic justification for this foreign economic contract? Maybe it would be better to create jobs in Ukraine? Lately, there is an increasing impression that our officials are scouring the world in search of equipment, including used ones, and are competing on how to purchase it with the greatest losses for the state budget and how not to support domestic industry,” writes Zerkalo Nedeli "
