Australia continues to fight with the world's number one Serbian Djokovic
Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke used his personal powers to revoke Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic's visa again.
Earlier, on January 10, the Melbourne Court overturned the previous decision of the Australian authorities to cancel the visa and deport the athlete.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the athlete’s lawyers are preparing to immediately file a lawsuit against this decision, because if they do not challenge it, Djokovic will be immediately deported from Australia, where the prestigious Australian Open tournament starts on January 17.
“I used my powers under the Immigration Act to cancel the visa that Novak Djokovic had,” Hawke said. – For reasons of public health and law enforcement, in the public interest. This decision follows a ruling by the Federal and District Court on January 10 that annulled the previous decision to cancel the visa.”
“In making this decision, I have carefully considered all information from the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force. The Morrison Government is firmly committed to protecting Australia's borders, particularly during the pandemic.”
Previously, Djokovic received an exemption from anti-Covid vaccination because he had a coronavirus infection last month. Serbia believes that the persecution of the Serbian tennis player in Australia is politically motivated.
Note that Djokovic now leads the ranking of the best tennis players on the planet.
