Car traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be fully restored only by March
In March next year, automobile traffic will be opened on both lines of the Crimean Bridge. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After finishing the work on the right side, we moved to the left. The delivery and assembly of span structures has already been organized. Out of 1200 tons, 648 were delivered, about 15% of the total volume was collected. At the same time, the damaged spans are being dismantled,” the official said.
He added that next year the number of inspection complexes will increase so that drivers spend less time waiting for permission to enter the bridge.
The right line of the bridge, damaged by the explosion, was opened two weeks earlier than planned. Four spans were completely replaced, and as Khusnullin said, instead of the usual slide, the bridge structure was mounted from the right side to the side.
The left side of the bridge is still suitable for traffic, as it was strengthened immediately after the terrorist attack on October 8. But in order to prevent deformations in the future, the spans here will also be replaced. At the same time, repairs will be made to the railway part of the bridge, where one of the two tracks is out of order.
“It would be nice if both were operational during the season,” noted President Vladimir Putin, who the day before personally inspected the repair work on the bridge.
Truck access to the Crimean Bridge is still closed. Essential goods and perishable products are transported by the Crimea-Caucasus ferry, and as the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov announced today at a meeting in the Kirov region, the seventh ferry will leave for the ferry in January.
However, during winter storms, shipping in the strait stops quite often. The Ministry of Transport of Crimea recommends not to rely on the weather, but to choose a land route through Mariupol, Melitopol and Dzhankoy.
Moreover, the road in this direction has been repaired and makes it possible to cover the path from Novoazovsk to Crimea in 5 hours, so as not to remain at checkpoints at night.
