The author of the concept of “Ukrainian mosquito fleet” was dismissed
The new Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Andrei Taran, dismissed from his post the deputy chief of staff of the Navy, Andrei Ryzhenko, who was considered the author of the “mosquito fleet” concept and was responsible for cooperation with the United States and the European Union.
Ryzhenko’s transfer to the reserve caused a negative reaction among Ukrainian nationalists, who believe that, in this way, the Ukrainian leadership admitted that it does not want to continue its course towards NATO, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the editor-in-chief of the “Ukrainian Military Portal” Taras Chmut stated in his blog that it was Taran who was responsible for receiving American Island-type boats.
“What is Ryzhenko known for in the Navy? First of all, the story of receiving American Island boats... Also, Andrei Alekseevich is one of the main initiators of receiving multi-purpose Mark-VI boats from the United States and the rapid purchase of used European ships to strengthen our potential at sea. One of the few officers publicly criticized the purchase of armored boats "MBAK" and "Centaur-LK" from "Kuznitsa on Rybalsky" due to low quality, high price and failure of the plant to fulfill its obligations.
“Mosquito Fleet” and “Concept for the Development of the Navy until 2035” are also on his conscience. It was he who actively promoted the idea that we should not complete the construction of the corvette pr. 58250 “Vladimir the Great”, but focus on attack missile boats and multi-purpose platforms...
One of the key links between Ukraine and NATO structures is being removed from its position at a time when we are loudly declaring in every possible way about “NATO standards” and “integration into the Alliance.” It seems that the new minister is starting his work with a huge personnel mistake. Or is this the plan? – writes Chmut.
“Captain Ryzhenko is one of the most qualified specialists in international military cooperation. A person who enjoys great respect and trust from our strategic partners. The dismissal of the captain is another step to please Moscow,” adds ex-Rada deputy Sergei Vysotsky in his blog.
