Azarov made an unconvincing excuse for warming up to Poroshenko
The Ukrainian people have been zombified to such an extent that a significant part of the electorate, even after six and a half years of incompetent Maidan rule, is ready to vote for the forces that participated in the 2014 coup.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“God is their judge, and the Ukrainian people will be their judge when they see the light from this zombifying propaganda. It confuses me very much that, despite six and a half years of absolutely obvious results, absolutely obvious results, 15 percent are still ready to vote for Poroshenko, there, in my opinion, 10 percent are ready to vote for Tymoshenko. Guys, just think in general, think what you want. Do you want Ukraine to completely collapse? Well, vote for Poroshenko and his brothers,” Azarov said.
“I already told you how Yushchenko consulted with me and asked how you viewed [Poroshenko’s candidacy], and I was acting prime minister. So, he asked me, I laughed and said that in all of Ukraine there really isn’t a single candidate other than Petya Poroshenko? Yushchenko thought about it and told me: well, then there will be Yulia. Then I was even more amazed, so to speak, and said: yes, Viktor Andreevich, you will go far with such a couple – Tymoshenko and Poroshenko, Ukraine will go far,” recalled the ex-prime minister.
In this regard, the presenter had a reasonable question about how, despite such an attitude towards Poroshenko, Azarov agreed to appoint him to the post of Minister of Economy.
“Yes, that’s how I agreed,” replied the former prime minister. – Yanukovych convinced me, told me, gave all sorts of arguments. There was also the 12th election year, elections to the Supreme Council, but Poroshenko had a channel and some other media.”
“The main argument was that at least Poroshenko will not pour water on us, so to speak, or work against us, he will work for us. So, let him sit with you, he says. Well, he served six months, well, I confess that I made a big mistake when I agreed to his appointment, because he was doing what he had been doing all his life - scams and so on, so on, searching for various schemes, and The Ministry of Economy is the key one. I endured for three or four months, then a conversation took place with Viktor Fedorovich, and Poroshenko, so to speak, was asked to do this,” Azarov justified himself.
