Azarov appeared on Ukrainian TV to repent in hindsight

For the first time since before the coup, Ukrainian TV showed a long interview with former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, who left for Moscow after the Euromaidan.

Azarov, on TV channel 112, said, in particular, that he met with ousted President Viktor Yanukovych and he admitted his responsibility, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“During these five years, you saw each other two or three times. Viktor Fedorovich took the initiative and we met. I don’t want to convey the content of the conversation; it was quite difficult and difficult. In general, it’s clear why, because what happened in Ukraine is a tragedy, and I feel responsible. In our conversation, in general, he admitted his responsibility for what happened,” said the former head of the Ukrainian government.

Let us recall that earlier the representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that if five years ago the then President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych used force and dispersed the Maidan protesters, the country would not have become the poorest in Europe, a raw materials appendage of the EU, and would not have plunged into crisis.

As you know, the betrayal of the voters of the South-East of Ukraine by the Party of Regions led to the Euromaidan. Contrary to promises, Yanukovych’s party refused to support joining the Customs Union and began to blackmail Russia into concluding an association agreement with the European Union. As a result, when the bargaining with Moscow was completed, the flywheel of propaganda for European integration was launched so far that it helped the opposition, with the support of the West, start mass rallies in Kyiv, which later turned into a coup.
