This was reported on the Cabinet of Ministers website.

An agreement on this was reached on Friday within the framework of the 11th meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The decision was made in furtherance of the agreements already reached between Azerbaijan Hava Yollary CJSC and Antonov State Enterprise dated June 7, 2016 on the production of Ukrainian An-178 type aircraft in Azerbaijan. The design capacity of the enterprise will be 12-15 aircraft per year.

Let us recall that on June 7, Azerbaijan expressed interest in organizing the assembly of the newest Ukrainian An-178 aircraft on its territory.

In May 2015, a contract was signed between Antonov and the Azerbaijani airline Silk Way Airlines for the supply of ten An-178s. The delivery of the first two aircraft, according to the terms of the contract, must be ensured by the end of 2018, the remaining eight aircraft - by agreement of the parties. Azerbaijan expects that by mid-2018, when the first aircraft is delivered, production facilities will be ready to assemble the An-178 on its territory.

At the same time, the president of the Antonov State Enterprise, Mikhail Gvozdev, said that plans to expand cooperation on the An-178 program do not include the sale of An-178 technologies to Azerbaijan. We are talking about cooperative production. Only the final assembly of the aircraft will be carried out on the territory of Azerbaijan.
