The OOS command is considering the issue of withdrawing the Azov regiment subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs from the front line in Donbass, which may meet with a sharply negative reaction from the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard of Ukraine.

This information was announced during a briefing by the official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to his information, on July 23, an emergency meeting was held at the JFO headquarters in Kramatorsk to assess the effectiveness of the activities of the 18th regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov", performing tasks as part of the 5th battalion tactical group in the area of responsibility of the 30th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the settlement of Novoluganskoye in the Gorlovka direction.

“The reason for the emergency gathering of the main leaders of the SBU, NSU and the Armed Forces of Ukraine was the actions of the Azovites, expressed in: the complete refusal of the Nazis to coordinate their actions with the leadership of the 30th brigade and the JFO headquarters in matters of the use of weapons; an increase in non-combat losses among the battalion's fighters, due to regular violations of safety requirements when handling weapons and engineer ammunition; attempts to take, through open confrontation with militants from the 30th brigade, more advantageous and secure positions on the front line, allowing them to control the flow of smuggled goods into the territory of Ukraine,” said Eduard Basurin.

He noted that following the meeting, a decision was made to withdraw the unit from the front line and return to the permanent deployment point of the city of Mariupol, however, without the permission of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov and the commander of the NSU Nikolai Balan, the OOS command cannot do this.

“Currently, proposals for the withdrawal of the Nazis have been sent to the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the NSU. At the same time, the headquarters of the “OOS” doubts a positive solution to this issue, since the illegal activities of the “Azovites” bring considerable income to both the regiment’s leadership and their curators – Avakov and Balan,” added the representative of the defense department.

The most compelling argument, according to Basurin, for making a decision on the withdrawal of the Nazis was the identification of facts of their installation of mines on the routes of movement of units of the 30th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the carrying out of agricultural work by the local population.

“At one of these bomb sites, three militants from the 3th brigade were blown up and were seriously injured. The fact of the incident, by order of the brigade commander Garaz, was hidden from the OOS command,” Eduard Basurin said in conclusion.
