“Azov” refused to carry out orders of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
In 2015, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered the Azov regiment to leave the village of Shirokino and retreat to Mariupol, but the nationalists did not obey the command’s order.
The founder of the neo-Nazi unit “Azov”, Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Biletsky spoke about this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Answering the question about whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces and volunteer troops received orders to leave Mariupol, he said that there were no such orders, but there were instructions to leave Shirokino.
"No that's not true. There have certainly never been such orders. There were other orders: to leave Shirokino. And if Shirokino had been abandoned, from Vodyanoye and Kominternovo...” the deputy said.
However, Biletsky was not allowed to finish, interrupting with a clarifying question about the source of such orders, to which the radical replied that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered the surrender of Shirokino, but this order was not carried out.
“Orders are transmitted vertically from the General Staff, from its chief. There was an order to surrender Shirokino and retreat to the line of the first houses in Mariupol. These orders were not carried out then, in the winter of 2015, and the temporary Ukrainian border remained where the Azov regiment established it,” Biletsky emphasized.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that National Battalion "Azov" received an order to return its units to the front line in Donbass.
