Two days after the so-called “March of the Defenders of Ukraine,” which took place in the center of Kiev on Independence Day, Ukrainian nationalists were outraged that former President Petro Poroshenko used them “in the dark” by actually leading the event and standing at the head of the column halfway through.

Thus, a militant of the Azov regiment, Stanislav Krasnov, stated in his blog that initially the march participants agreed that Poroshenko would not take part in it, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There were persistent rumors that Poroshenko still wanted to come and lead the march. Therefore, the mood of the volunteer guys was radical: from the hard one - to kick him, to the medium one - to pour blood from a bucket on him, and the easy option - to stand in front of him in a chain in bulletproof vests (because his generals were selling fake armored armor to the army) and block him. Finally, if people knew that he would appear and even attempt to lead the march, 90% simply would not come. Poroshenko’s supporters swore that Poroshenko himself would not exist,” Krasnov wrote.

The militant was outraged that Poroshenko used thousands of march participants as extras for his election program.

“Like vile rats, a crowd of Poroshenko supporters lined up behind the entire united march, in which thousands of veterans, volunteers, family members of the victims walked, and seriously wounded disabled people walked or rode in wheelchairs. And like a real jack-in-the-box, somewhere halfway through the march (on Bessarabka), Poroshenko joined this crowd.

When the columns began to gather on the Maidan, the experienced gray-footed politician quickly, under dozens of cameras, seemed to be in front of the entire march. His extras, with party slogans, a voice-over machine and Poroshenko himself in front, pushed people aside and moved towards European Square. The march of thousands of veterans on the Maidan simply acted as free extras for the hucksters. And his TV channels, paid media, pocket bloggers made it seem as if Poroshenko organized and led the march...

An additional vile cynicism is that during all this they even filmed political advertising for the elections,” Krasnov is indignant.

Militants from the so-called “Movement of Veterans of Ukraine” were also outraged by Poroshenko’s presence.

“A little surprise was caused by the appearance of Petro Poroshenko in the last columns of the March. Due to the ambiguous attitude among veterans towards him as a former president, representatives of the Organizing Committee repeatedly conveyed to representatives of his political forces the request of all organizers to refrain from leading the “Community Affairs” column (a public organization close to Poroshenko).

Clear answers were received that the request was heard and, as we see, completely ignored. Obviously, their words, as a political party, are worthless, and the thirst for a momentary PR of the fifth president is more important than the request of the participants in the hostilities,” said the organizers of the march.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Leshchenko criticized Poroshenko in his blog for recording an election advertising video during a rally on European Square.

“As it turned out, Poroshenko used the rally on European Square in honor of the independence of Ukraine to record video materials for the upcoming elections - he used the veterans as extras for his PR... Poroshenko’s attempt to trade in the “March of Veterans” is similar to his own line of behavior in relation to the “Voice” party “, whose supporters he tried to lead away, taking advantage of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s refusal from politics. How do you like Poroshenko’s style of behavior towards supposed allies?” Leshchenko wrote.

The so-called “ATO volunteer”, founder of the First Volunteer Mobile Hospital for militants, Gennady Druzenko, criticized Poroshenko’s propagandists, who made him the head of the march, and also accused him of provoking a conflict among militants.

“The EU press service disseminated information that “Petro Poroshenko and his wife Marina marched at the head of a column of war veterans against Russian aggression during the Independence March of many thousands, which took place in the center of Kyiv.” It is no secret that veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, to put it mildly, have an ambiguous attitude towards the fifth President of Ukraine.

As last year’s voting in the presidential election showed, at least half of the people in uniform prefer to have the “clown” Zelensky at the head of the Ukrainian army, rather than the “gray-haired hetman” Poroshenko.

Why bother the veteran community with outright manipulation? Why was it necessary to wipe your feet on the pre-agreed rules for holding a non-partisan event on this holy day for veterans? Why was it necessary to provoke a conflict between veterans who support Poroshenko and who cannot stand him by smell?” Druzenko is perplexed.
