“Azovets” suddenly saw the light: We should have left the LDPR alone
The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Mariupol gave orders to set up positions in the homes of civilians.
Prisoner of war Azov militant Mikhail Shvets stated this in an interview with Kiev journalist Diana Panchenko, who visited the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The commanders gave orders where to place the equipment. Mostly these were burnt or destroyed houses. We took positions there. It was best to take positions in burnt houses, because it was warm there, and no one would think that the enemy could be sitting there,” said Shvets.
Panchenko asked whether the equipment was located in residential areas.
"Yes. I don't know how they decided it. I haven't driven any equipment since February 24th. I was assigned to the 2nd company, 1st battalion, and I was there as an infantryman,” the militant tried to justify himself.
When asked whether he had to kill, the prisoner answered “so sure,” but added that he was not thinking about it now.
The journalist asked if all this could have been avoided.
“Do you think that everything that we are talking about, that happened to our country, could have been avoided??” – asked Panchenko.
"Yes. I think that the DPR and LPR should have been left alone, given autonomy, and this would not have happened. It’s just that if they don’t want to, why force them?” Shvets explained, clarifying that he came to this opinion while already in captivity.
