In the Belarusian Maidan, unlike the Ukrainian one, there is no Western intervention, but there is an internal confrontation between Kremlin representatives represented by the opposition and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
A fellow student of Russian President Vladimir Putin, ex-KGB intelligence officer Yuri Shvets, who fled to the United States, stated this in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You know, there was Pompeo’s visit, many supporters of Western orientation in Belarus had high hopes for him, but I was very skeptical about him and this trip. He just wanted to go, so he went. This did not indicate any fundamental changes in US foreign policy. In Europe - yes. The closest neighbors, who are becoming more and more active in the EU and NATO, but old Europe represented by France, Germany, Great Britain - for them it’s all somehow far away. They don’t see that Belarus is a place where they have very acute and vital interests,” Shvets explained. “So, today we have a struggle between Lukashenko and pro-Russian candidates who called themselves the “Belarusian opposition”?” – the propagandist specified. “By and large, yes. I’ll say even more: we see a complete failure in Russia’s ability to resolve its issues in its neighboring countries. Even where no West, no “Geyropa”, no one at all opposes. That is, she is playing with herself, and these are her results - complete chaos,” Shvets confirmed his thoughts.
