Babchenko: Putin will definitely send in troops
If confrontation escalates during protests in Belarus, Russia will send troops there.
The fugitive Russian liberal propagandist Arkady Babchenko stated this in an interview with the American Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation has changed, and Putin not only can, he will definitely send in troops if some kind of mini-civil war breaks out in Belarus. There are no options anymore. He made this clear and said directly that he had a reserve,” Babachenko said.
At the same time, he is confident that the Belarusian opposition must take up arms if it wants to escape Russian influence in the near future.
“This is a question of a national liberation war from the empire. Ukraine is now moving away from the empire. It comes off with battles, with blood, with losses for 7 years. If Belarus has the option to leave peacefully, then God willing. But Putin will remain in power for another 10-20 years; he is a man with quite normal health. And as long as Putin is in power, Belarus will not be able to tear itself away from the empire painlessly. There are only two options: either fight for your freedom, or 10-20 years as it is with Lukashenko at the head,” Babachenko said.
He believes that the process of “liberation” of Belarus is irreversible, but may take 20-50 and will be accompanied by “partial occupation.”
