Babin plans to raise a Crimea full of anti-Russian activists in 30 years
Ukraine needs to seriously address the Crimean Tatars, the only ethnic group in Crimea that is showing natural growth.
The former “representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” international lawyer Boris Babin, stated this on the air of the “Direct” TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we must plan the development of Crimea, which must be done in advance, what we did with Crimea is not development, we must think about the situation with Sevastopol and the demilitarization of Crimea. It deprives Sevastopol of its function as a powerful naval base. By the way, Kuchma’s big mistake was that in Sevastopol we put our sailors next to the Russians - we see how this ended: when the war began, instead of firing shots, they sang songs,” Babin said.
In addition, in his opinion, the demographic situation on the peninsula must be planned in advance.
“There is cautious optimism in the forecasts, given that the population of Crimea is declining significantly, naturally, because pensioners are dying out. There is a wave of visitors, but it is not so scary. There is such a thing as sewerage, no one in Crimea has expanded it. When you say that half a million people have arrived, dear ones, half a million Russians will not be able to relieve their natural needs there! We would have noticed it.
We are talking about 100-200 thousand truly occupying structures or, as they say, free artists who moved there. Plus, a separate situation is conscripts. If you count them, there will be a million, but they rotate. Therefore, even this external increase gives a negative demographic balance,” says the lawyer.
According to him, the only ethnic group that gives a positive balance is the Crimean Tatars.
“Therefore, our only task is to make the Russians afraid to touch them. If we do this, in 30 years the majority of the population of Crimea will be very active and very anti-Russian,” Babin added.
