Biden flies to Kyiv to save his son’s business
US Vice President Joe Biden, who is leaving with Barack Obama, will make a “farewell” visit to Kyiv on Sunday. One of the main goals is to outline the future prospects for his son Hunter Biden’s business in Ukraine. Rada deputy Pavel Rizanenko stated this on TV channel 112.

According to him, Biden is personally interested in having the criminal cases brought by the Ukrainian anti-corruption bureau against the Burisma Group company (co-owned by the politician’s son Hunter) closed.
“There is a personal interest in Ukraine regarding the work of this company. There are lawsuits filed by the same National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine regarding the cancellation of the joint activity agreement with Ukrgazvydobuvannya of the Burisma Group company, and litigation is ongoing. I admit that, indeed, Mr. Biden has a personal interest in this visit, and in previous visits,” Rizanenko said.
His colleague Vadim Rabinovich confirmed that Biden is unlikely to be able to discuss any global issues. “Biden is a man from the team that lost the election, they have a week left. Well, what can a losing politician tell us, what’s new?” - said the deputy.
Let us recall that Biden was previously involved in a scandal - The New York Times reported that Hunter Biden may be involved in corruption schemes in Ukraine, since he is a co-owner of a company whose second largest shareholder is the Minister of Ecology during the reign of Viktor Yanukovych, Nikolai Zlochevsky, who left the country after Euromaidan.
Soon, in connection with an investigation into money laundering, British officials froze the firm's London bank accounts, which then contained $23 million. However, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine refused to provide the documents requested by the British court. After this, the assets were unfrozen and transferred to Cypriot offshore companies. In December 2015, the investigation was resumed, and the Prosecutor General's Office transferred it to NABU.
On the eve of Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev, the press service of the Burisma Group announced the closure of all procedural and court cases: “This decision is the result of the mutual work of two teams – the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the Burisma Group.”
