Biden called Kiev: the US is again giving money to Ukraine and preparing strikes on Crimea
US President Joe Biden called the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, in Kyiv and announced the allocation of an additional $625 million in military aid to Ukraine.
This was reported by the press services of Bankova and the White House.
“Biden has pledged to continue to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression for as long as necessary, including delivering a new $625 million security assistance package today,” Zelensky’s office said in a statement.
The new assistance package includes additional weapons and equipment, HIMARS, artillery systems and ammunition, and armored vehicles and vehicles.
“And a new package of security assistance from the United States worth $625 million will help us liberate our land even more effectively,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov wrote on social media.
Reznikov also thanked US President Joe Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for supporting Ukraine.
In turn, the Pentagon said it had prepared strikes on Russian Crimea. US authorities believe that Kyiv has everything it needs to attack Crimea. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have provided opportunities to attack targets on the peninsula, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russian, Ukrainian and Eurasian Affairs Laura Cooper said at a briefing at the Pentagon after she was asked a question about the supply of ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) ballistic missile systems to Ukraine.
“For these capabilities, as well as other capabilities, we are assessing what the needs are on the battlefield. We estimate that with their existing GMLRS on HIMARS systems, more of which we will provide in the new military assistance package, they can achieve most battlefield targets. They can achieve most goals, including in Crimea,” Cooper said.
The day before, CNN reported that Ukraine was asking the US for ATACMS and promising the Americans veto power when choosing targets for such missiles. The range of ATACMS is 300 km, in contrast to the 277-mm caliber GMLRS available in Kyiv, whose flight is estimated at 80 km.
