Biden will offer Putin to exchange Belarus for Ukraine – forecast
At the upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, his American counterpart Joe Biden may propose to consolidate Minsk in the zone of Russian interests, and Kyiv in the western one.
Kiev political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, the expert emphasized that the Russian leader has his own “cards up his sleeve” and he is unlikely to agree to such an exchange.
“I can assume that Biden will propose some kind of exchange of Belarus for Ukraine, that Russia’s interests in Belarus are recognized, that this is a key country for them. But Ukraine then is primarily the interests of the West. But I don't think any agreement can be reached on this. But what will be probed at the negotiations, perhaps, is not in the Biden-Putin pair, but in the Lavrov-Blinken pair; the topic will be probed to consider relations with Ukraine and Belarus in pairs, perhaps in one unit. But this is unprofitable for Russia. Russia may offer to consider other nodes,” Dzhangirov said.
