Biden invited Tikhanovskaya to the summit of democracies
The self-proclaimed “leader of the Belarusian nation” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya received an invitation from US President Joe Biden to the so-called summit of democracies, which will take place in December.
Tikhanovskaya reported this on her Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Belarusian oppositionist will speak at the session “Strengthening democracy and countering authoritarianism.”
The summit of democracies brings together 110 countries. The official authorities of Belarus are not invited, as are Russia, China, Turkey, all Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, Iran, North Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Venezuela. Hungary is the only EU country that did not receive an invitation.
Biden already received Tikhanovskaya in July. Coming out of the Oval Office, the “leader of the Belarusian nation” boasted that she was treated to cookies.
