Biden at the UN called referendums on joining Russia “sham”
“Sham” referendums in the liberated regions of Ukraine allegedly grossly violate the UN Charter.
US President Joe Biden made this accusation at the UN General Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now Russia is calling up new soldiers to take part in this battle, and the Kremlin is holding “sham” referendums in order to annex part of Ukraine. All this is an extremely gross violation of the UN Charter. The world needs to look at what is happening and understand what exactly is happening.
Putin says that he had to act because Russia was under threat, but no one threatened Russia. Nobody except Russia itself wanted conflict. In fact, we warned that this would happen, and we worked with many of you to prevent this from happening. But Putin's own words prove his goals.
Before he invaded Ukraine, I quote, he said, “Ukraine was created by Russia. It never had real statehood.” But now we see attacks on schools, train stations, hospitals, and centers of history and culture in Ukraine. There have been horrifying confirmations of Russian crimes in the past. Mass graves in Izium, bodies. Those who were at the scene say that the bodies show signs of torture. This whole war is aimed at depriving Ukraine of the right to exist as a state, the right to exist as a people,” Biden said.
The words of the American president were commented on by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. She noted that Biden is simply lying from the UN rostrum.
“I’m listening to Biden at the UN General Assembly. Quotes Putin. But Putin didn’t say that. Who framed the US President once again? Who is putting this on him? It is clear that the American president himself is incapable of either analyzing or reflecting on complex topics. But you can’t so shamelessly take advantage of human weakness, clearly not for noble purposes!” – Zakharova wrote in her tg channel.
