The Balaklava Thermal Power Plant shut down unexpectedly - the heads of Sevastopol and Crimea published messages
The new PSTU TPP "Balaklavskaya" malfunctioned in the emergency system and switched off, which is why some areas of Sevastopol, Kerch, Feodosia, Dzhankoy, the city of Saki and adjacent villages were simultaneously without power. The accident occurred at 18:05.

“According to preliminary information, at 18:05 there was a false activation of gas equipment at the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, which resulted in the shutdown of two power units. Consumers are disconnected: Balaklava, Cossack Bay, Kamyshovaya Bay, Fiolent, central part of the city, st. Lenina, st. B. Marine. All operational teams are working on site. “The power supply will be restored within an hour,” he assured.
Some cities and regions of Crimea, powered by the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, were also left without electricity.
“As a result of an emergency shutdown of equipment at the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, part of the Republic of Crimea was de-energized. Work to restore power supply has already begun. I ask you to trust only official sources of information,” said the head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov.
The head of the Saki city administration, Alexander Ovdienko, said that emergency crews of the Distribution Zone have begun emergency restoration work. The city was left not only without light, but also without water.
“All the Crimean Water pumping enterprises, which stopped as a result of a network blackout, will soon gradually switch to backup power sources. The water supply will be restored as soon as possible,” Ovdienko assured.
A storm warning has been issued for today in Crimea. Precipitation with sleet, sleet and sleet is expected. Strengthening southwest wind with transition to northeast 15-20 m/s, in some places up to 25 m/s.
