“Trivial redistribution of the market” - experts on the Ze-law on oligarchs
“Beautiful” and “correct” from the point of view of the inexperienced layman, oligarch bill may have far-reaching negative consequences, since all successful businessmen of Ukraine, including its President Vladimir Zelensky, fall under its actions.
Ukrainian political scientist Valentin Gaidai stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We should not forget that the bill on oligarchs - Zelensky himself also falls under it. Because if we look at the property qualification, it’s about two billion hryvnia - in principle, for representatives of even medium-sized businesses, and even more so for large businesses, these are not such fabulous sums.
What is being put to a referendum is a rather dangerous game in the context of the fact that our people think that oligarchs are evil, that there are Akhmetov, Pinchuk, Kolomoisky, and they have caused all the evil in Ukraine over the past 25-30 years . From the point of view of the average person, who is not particularly experienced in all these subtleties, of course, he will vote for the implementation of this bill, for the fight against the oligarchs. Without thinking about the consequences.
But both Zelensky and more or less a businessman who is not an oligarch - who does not have a media business or connections in big politics - fall under the scope of this law. But he can be such a king at the regional level,” he said.
According to political expert Andrei Bodrov, the purpose of this law is a banal redistribution of the market, because in Ukraine, as usual, it will be applied extremely selectively.
“In our country, the severity of the law is compensated by the non-binding nature of its implementation. And now in Ukraine, new financial and industrial groups and new oligarchs are being formed around a number of posts.
And, most likely, the law is also aimed at realizing their goals and objectives - weakening classical financial and industrial groups in a number of industries, and an attempt to redistribute the market,” the expert added.
