“Bandera, get up!” – “onizhedeti” controlled by the SBU went to the center of Kyiv
About a thousand members of radical nationalist organizations this evening marched through the government quarter of Kiev and held a rally near the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, protesting against the brutal detention of representatives of the C14 group by police that happened the other day, when one of the security forces shouted “Get down, Bandera!”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the march participants unfurled banners with the inscriptions “Avakov - resign”, “Stop the mask show”, “Impunity breeds violence”, “Berkut” - recertification”, “No to politics in the police”, “Bandera” , get up!” and shouted “Glory to the nation – death to the enemies!”, “Stop the Mask Show”, “Bandera, get up!”
The “activists” demanded that special police officers (i.e., the former “Berkut”) not wear masks and have identification numbers. The third requirement is to recertify special police officers.
“Those normal people who serve there cannot be normal, because next to them are pathological sadists who hate Ukraine, are waiting for some kind of Russian revenge, and all this must be cleared from there,” said the leader of the C14 organization Yevgeny Karas , who organized the event.
The third requirement is “depoliticization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.” The position of the Minister of Internal Affairs is political, and he should not decide personnel issues relating to the apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular, appoint the heads of the National Police, the demonstrators believe.
However, the main requirement is to cleanse the police ranks of “unreliable officers.”
“They not only shouted “get down, Bandera,” but many employees have very anti-Ukrainian, non-state views. We know of cases where St. George's ribbons were found on a Berkut employee, it seems that this was in 2016, he was then suspended from service. There were repeated cases when they threatened to shoot and said “we will avenge the Maidan.” Definitely, people with such views cannot be in government service or in special forces. We will demand that these units be re-certified with the participation of psychologists, just to weed them out,” said Evgeniy Karas.
