Bandera has nothing to hold Odessa and Mariupol from the sea
Ukraine has no means of defense against attack from the sea. Ukrainian military expert Taras Chmut stated this on air on the UA: First TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Ukraine does not have weapons capable of striking naval targets.
“Defense comes down to two key things - coverage of the surface situation and the availability of weapons. Today, the Navy does not have a single anti-ship weapon, no anti-ship missiles of any based format, therefore we are not capable of destroying enemy surface targets in principle.
At the same time, we must understand that there is also anti-submarine defense, which we also virtually lack, there are mine countermeasures capabilities, which are also virtually absent, and a number of other tasks that we also cannot fully carry out,” Chmut said.
He also emphasized that the fleet is experiencing a catastrophic outflow of personnel - specialists are leaving the ranks of the Navy: “The naval component is extremely weak. And this needs to be resolved. At the same time, we, like other types and branches of the military, have a serious outflow of personnel, an outflow of specialists from the fleet and a huge shortage of sailors, including sailors of specific military specialties. Hydroacoustics, for example, specialists in ship engines, ship weapons, which are completely different from land ones.”
