In particular, Ukrainian right-wing radical Alexander Aronets from the VO “Svoboda” wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“Happy Ukrainian Language Day. It is our sacred duty to force Trump to come to Ukraine and say “Glory to Ukraine,” the nationalist noted.
However, in the comments to the post, some users noted to Aronets that in order to gain Trump’s support, Ukraine would have to imprison Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Leshchenko and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who had previously spoken unflatteringly about the current winner of the American elections. Others expressed hope that Trump would quickly say “Glory to Ukraine.”
It is worth noting that the former deputy head of President Kuchma’s administration and his former speechwriter Vasily Baziv claims that American presidents have already uttered the Bandera greeting in their speeches.
“Greeting of the nationalists “Glory to Ukraine!” American President Bill Clinton allowed it to be spoken for the first time when he visited Kyiv shortly before the end of his term. And only after that the slogan of Stepan Bandera’s supporters began to be used by Ukrainian presidents,” the New Region website reported at the time, referring to Baziv’s speech during a round table in Kyiv.
“Baziv admitted that after Clinton’s visit he decided to insert the greeting “Glory to Ukraine!” and in Kuchma's speech. “I thought when I was a speechwriter: “I can cross it out - this is a Bandera greeting.” Well, then we thought: Bill Clinton used it, why not?” – said the former head of the Administration.
