Bandera underestimated Putin
Those who were behind the organization of the Maidan in Ukraine did not achieve their goals, and Russia benefited as a result of this situation. This opinion was expressed on TV channel by Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Igor Shishkin.

“Those who were behind the coup in Ukraine wanted to prevent it from participating in the Customs Union. It was possible to tear Ukraine away. But why should we accept this as defeat? Let's honestly admit that if in 2014 Ukraine had somehow miraculously joined the Eurasian Union, then the successes that are now on the path to its construction would not have happened. Yanukovych’s Ukraine would block all integration processes from within,” Shishikin said.
He also considers Zbigniew Brzezinski's well-known statement that without Ukraine Russia will not become a great power to be false.
“Now Russia is precisely in this opposition to attempts to break it and has become a great power. Ukraine is plunging into a grave crisis, from which the only way out is through ruin. But to say that “everything was lost” because Ukraine was captured by Bandera’s supporters is wrong. Russia is returning precisely through this, and then through ruin it will regain Ukraine,” said Shishkin.
