“Bandera’s fool”: Usik sang a song about red viburnum
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik surprised the audience by arriving at a press conference before his rematch with Briton Anthony Joshua in the guise of a Cossack with forelock and whiskers.
In addition, the boxer sang the march of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen “Chervona Kalina” for the audience, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Usik’s performance caused a stir online. For example, ex-Azov militant, former comrade-in-arms of Oleg Lyashko in the Radical Party, Igor Mosiychuk, was very enthusiastic about the song and wished the boxer “victory.”
However, Azov militant Rodion Kudryashov has not forgotten Usik’s past hype as an “adequate” and “moderate Ukrainian.”
“With all due respect to this athlete, I consider him to be single-celled, all his public manifestations or appearances do not have any hidden meaning or message - this is all just banal monkeying for hype, and the performance of “Chervona Kalina” is also for this, to kill two birds with one stone : just hype and try to rehabilitate himself in the eyes of the Ukrainians who are angry with him,” Kudryashov wrote in his TG channel.
He added that it would be much more sincere for Usik not to sing about “Kalina”, but “to say a couple of kind words towards the head of the Moscow Patriarchate, Kirill.”
Journalist Andrei Medvedev noted that you don’t even have to watch the fight with the Briton - everything is like at Eurovision.
“Boxer Alexander Usik has always been an extravagant guy. And now he’s just become Bandera’s fool. Although, he is a good boxer.
But you don’t even have to watch the fight with Joshua. Victory will be given to Usik, simply because the political agenda dictates so. Without this, it could have been an interesting fight. Otherwise, it will just be peasant actionism,” Medvedev stated.
“Oh, how inconvenient it turned out. And remember how we were convinced that Usik was the standard of a “normal Ukrainian”!” – military correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan recalled, commenting on the photo of Usik dressed as a Cossack.
Note that the rematch between Usik and Joshua will take place on the night of August 21 in Saudi Arabia. The first fight took place in September last year and ended with Usik’s victory by decision - the Ukrainian boxer became the world heavyweight champion.
