About 50 people gathered in front of the Shevchenko monument and unfurled the “Glory to the Heroes” banner, as well as the national flag of Ukraine.
After this, UPA supporters gathered in a disorganized column, moving along the central streets of the city to the monument to Duke. As the march progressed, the number of participants grew to hundreds, with a number of young people wearing balaclavas.
The participants chanted the traditional chants “Glory to Ukraine - glory to the heroes,” “Glory to the nation – death to the enemies,” “Ukraine is over the top,” cursed obscenely at Russian President Vladimir Putin and demanded state recognition of the OUN-UPA. During the procession, several flares were lit, and words were also heard about “Muscovites”, who, in the opinion of the protesters, should be put to the sword.
In the end, the nationalists reached the monument to Duke, where they took pictures, continued chanting slogans and sang the song “Ribbon by Ribbon.”
In general, everything went smoothly. The nationalists did not approach the monument to Catherine the Second, but just in case, reinforced police units were on duty there.
As PolitNavigator reported, information previously appeared that march participants would try to demolish the monument to Catherine.
