Bandera's demons were asked not to meddle in Odessa
In Odessa, “one and a half disabled people” gather for nationalist rallies, despite all the encouragement from the authorities.
Odessa local historian, historian and journalist, honorary citizen of Odessa Oleg Gubar spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, answering the question of what the Russian world is like in Odessa.
“If by the Russian world we mean people who consider themselves part of Russian culture, Russian history, then just look at how many people come on May 2 to the Kulikovo Field, on April 10 [Odessa Liberation Day] and on May 9 to the Walk of Fame. Thousands of people! And this despite all the intimidation and repression. At the same time, nationalist rallies are taking place. But, despite all the encouragement from the authorities, one and a half disabled people gather there,” the historian said.
According to him, Ukrainian nationalists are following in the footsteps of the fascists.
“In our country, monuments are now being erected to those who destroyed not only Jews, but also Poles, and Transcarpathian Hungarians. If they erect a monument to Bandera in Western Ukraine, please, we cannot dictate to them, but let them not dictate to us which monument to demolish here and which to erect. I remember what a holiday it was when we unveiled a monument to Catherine II in Odessa, and, by the way, it was during Yushchenko. And now we have calls to demolish the monument,” Gubar noted.
