Among the candidates for the governor's quota, in addition to Sobolev, were Tatyana Lobach and deputy of the Gagarin municipal district Olga Kholodova from United Russia.

Deputy Boris Kolesnikov, a colleague of Sobolev, has already stated that Menyailo violated the procedure because he did not present his candidates to the legislative assembly.

The Legislative Assembly itself will also nominate its senator within 30 days. It is expected that deputy Olga Timofeeva will become the second representative of Sevastopol in the Federation Council.
