Bastrykin arrived in Mariupol. "Azov" awaits retribution
Chairman of the RF Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin held a meeting in Mariupol of the headquarters for the investigation of crimes committed by Ukrainian formations against civilians and Russian military personnel on the territory of the LPR, DPR and Ukraine.
This was reported by the Sledkom press service, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The head of the department noted that there was catastrophic destruction of civil infrastructure in Mariupol. There is clearly significant damage that needs to be assessed and reflected in the victims' civil claims.
In connection with the catastrophic destruction in the city, Bastrykin discussed the timing of construction and economic assessments and ordered the drawing up of a work plan in this direction.
Work is also underway with detained members of Ukrainian armed forces and completed criminal cases, as well as newly identified defendants. In addition, the department's report notes that specific names of persons from among the management staff of the pre-trial detention centers in Kyiv, Poltava, Nikolaev, Kharkov, Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk and Sumy, where Russian prisoners of war were tortured, have become known.
Based on the results of interrogations of Ukrainian nationalists who surrendered, the information was once again confirmed that Kyiv security forces everywhere use the tactic of deploying firing positions at civilian infrastructure facilities, in residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens.
In addition, it was noted that the atrocities of Ukrainian Nazis against civilians were often caused by the use of chemicals to raise morale, and therefore Bastrykin ordered to conduct research on the drugs and, as part of the investigation, give a proper legal assessment of this information.
The head of the Investigative Committee also instructed to increase the intensity of work to identify the personalities of representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Azov nationalists who surrendered in Mariupol and verify their involvement in specific crimes against civilians.
Bastrykin emphasized the need for further comprehensive interaction with colleagues from the LPR and DPR. It is important that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee especially emphasized the expediency of considering the facts of the atrocities of the UFU in the republics of Donbass, since the crimes were committed precisely on their territories.
