Basurin spoke about an important innovation in the truce with Ukraine
The Ukrainian side violated the agreement on an “indefinite truce” 12 hours after it was signed.
The official representative of the people's militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia.
The “permanent truce” became the 23rd in the Donbass. And the first after the election of the new President of Ukraine. The document provides for such measures as the non-use of any fire, including sniper fire. Refusal of attacks and actions of sabotage and reconnaissance groups. And also a ban on the placement of heavy weapons in front-line settlements. The order, according to the DPR people's militia, was communicated to every serviceman of the republic.
“The difference between this truce and previous ones is that it implies criminal liability for violation. This is an important innovation, which representatives of our republics have been trying to enshrine in one of the clauses of the agreement over the past year, but the Ukrainian side has refused each time. And so I agreed. Apparently, on the eve of the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, trying to show: “Yes, we are for peace,” said the DPR representative.
According to him, the first violation of the silence regime occurred 12 hours 53 minutes after its offensive: the enemy used small arms in the area of the village of Novaya Tavria in the south of the republic.
“Legally, we can state that the truce has been violated. However, I would not focus special attention on this fact. Someone may not have been completely sober or shot adequately. While this is not indicative, we will monitor the situation,” Basurin noted.
At the same time, he believes that the success of the truce will depend primarily on whether the Ukrainian authorities will be able to reason with right-wing radical elements.
