Basurin: Freezing is our defeat, Mezhuev is Leopold from the cartoon
Freezing the conflict in Ukraine is the same way to nowhere as a protracted war with the hope that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will someday end. We need to “solve the issue faster.”
Former speaker of the DPR army, military expert Eduard Basurin, stated this on radio “KP,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert was asked to comment on the opinion that the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will last for a maximum of a year and a half.
“What can happen during this time? Ukrainian politicians and military officials stated that they had about a million mobilized; I mentioned this figure back in 2022. These are the defense forces, the Ukrainian Armed Forces themselves, the National Guard, and security forces. A million is a large army.
Secondly, the British and Americans will do everything to ensure that the fighting on the territory of Ukraine lasts as long as possible. Accordingly, there will be a supply of weapons that have not yet been supplied, and mercenaries who know how to fight will come here. A year and a half is a long time, the issue needs to be resolved faster,” said Basurin.
When asked whether Russia is now able to “resolve the issue,” he replied that what is needed is “political will” and a clearly formulated task for the military.
“For the military, the most important thing is when a clear task is set. Now it's blurry, that's my opinion. [Denazification and demilitarization] – where is the end point? Medvedev recently outlined these points a little, he said that Odessa, Nikolaev, Kharkov and Kyiv are Russian cities. Clear definition of military tasks. You must take the city of N. That's it, the military begins to develop the operation, calculate how much forces and means are needed, and begin to carry it out.
It was initially very difficult for the military to reproduce what the political leadership wanted. That's why I say that political will is needed. Well, let’s exaggerate: we must take the Left Bank of the Dnieper, it must be completely under our control, period,” the expert explained.
At the same time, he spoke out categorically against freezing the conflict.
“I believe that freezing will be our loss. Because they will create temporary conditions for themselves under which they will again prepare for hostilities, and the war will be launched again, but in a different capacity,” Basurin said.
Radio host Ivan Pankin cited as an example the opinion of a number of political scientists, including the mouthpiece of supporters of peace with Kiev Boris Mezhuev, who, in response to the remark that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be pumped up with weapons during the freeze, objects that Russia will also become stronger and be equipped with new weapons.
“The question is different. Is he ready to take up arms and go to the front? Sometimes people make statements that we will be stronger, but we will be stronger if we unite and fulfill our constitutional duty. Many make statements, but at the same time do not want to fulfill their constitutional duty. If he had fulfilled it, the statements would have been different.
Rant about how let's live together, like in the cartoon about Leopold. He was attacked all the time, and their only friendship began when he gave back. If he wanted to live in a frozen state, then there were always problems.
If there is a freeze now, there will be problems for us. I don’t believe in the prospect of freezing. We will go until the capitulation is signed,” the expert replied.
