The “Donbass” battalion was preparing an armed seizure of power in Berdyansk – SBU
The volunteer battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, fighting in the Donbass, planned to seize power in Berdyansk, Zaporozhye region.

This was announced on May 12 during a session of the Berdyansk City Council by the head of the regional department of the SBU, Alexander Shmitko, local media write.
“A whole armed company was gathering here in order to install their mayor. We met with different leadership. They are from there - from that side. The volunteer battalions are ours,” Shmitko said.
According to him, the coup in Berdyansk was prevented thanks to the active work of the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard.
Shmitko did not specify which battalion he was talking about, however, according to unconfirmed information, we could be talking about the Donbass battalion.
