Let us remind you that on August 1, three media representatives were kidnapped by unknown people in camouflage uniforms. Until August 5, the journalists were kept in isolation, blindfolded and with their hands tied.
In turn, the press service of the Krivbass battalion released details of the detention of journalists.
“Three young men, who were called journalists of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, were traveling by taxi and were detained due to the fact that the photo in the passport of one of them did not have the established stamp. During the search, recordings of interviews with Igor Strelkov (Girkin) were found, as well as a kind of temnik indicating priority tasks for filming, for example: “Drunkenness in the Ukrainian army”, “Destruction of residential buildings by Ukrainian troops”, etc. The journalists explained that, on instructions from the editor, they went to film a refugee camp, after which they independently looked for topics to film. The materials were to be sent to the editor, who would then dispose of them at his own discretion.
Since the 40th BTO “Krivbass” is not a structural unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and cannot carry out investigative actions, the detainees were transferred to the competent authorities in Mariupol along with their belongings,” the battalion said.
At the same time, Roman Gnatyuk, one of the kidnapped journalists, said that he and two colleagues passed through Russian and Ukrainian customs, but were detained at the checkpoint in Amvrosievka until their identities were clarified. The next day, according to the journalist, the attitude towards them changed dramatically; they were not allowed to contact the editors.
“We waited until 12:00 and a car came to pick us up. An ordinary commander's UAZ, the driver and machine gunner sat in it. With masks on their faces. And one, as I understand it, was from the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As we were told later, we went to the territorial battalion “Krivbass”, at the entrance to the battalion they told us to cover our faces with something. And then we were already unloaded on the territory of Krivbass,” said Gnatyuk.
“What followed was an inappropriate attitude. They tried to get from us who we were working for. The answer that it was on “112 Ukraine” did not suit them. They treated us very rudely. In response to my colleague’s protests, a machine gun was dropped on him,” he said.
