“Father’s Deputy” was reminded of the Union State in Moscow
Russia must take care of “regional sovereignty” and defend it together with Belarus.
Member of the Belarusian Parliament Andrei Savinykh stated this during a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we talk about external influence, we, in principle, should not only talk about the influence on our nation-states. We must pose the issue somewhat more broadly and defend our regional sovereignty, so to speak. Not sovereignty from each other, but sovereignty within the global system - political, military, financial, which we seriously lack,” Savinykh said.
Russia is already dealing with these issues within the framework of the Union State, which many people forget about, emphasized Andrei Klimov, Chairman of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs:
“You and I realize that Russia and Belarus are, among other things, still in the state of the Union State. This is a legal term, sometimes they forget about it, they say, “Why are you interfering there?”
We have a single Union State with our own common documents that have legal force. This does not mean, of course, that we look after each other or enter into some positions of purely internal life. However, it would probably be more correct for us to fight off various types of attacks along the contour by coordinating these positions with each other.”
