Poverty in Ukraine has reached unprecedented levels
About 60% of Ukrainians live at or below the poverty line, and most families' income goes to buying food.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Anatoly Kinakh stated this on the Ukrlife.TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In recent years, an unprecedented gap has developed between the cost of living and the real level of income. According to the UN, about 60% of Ukrainians live near the poverty line and well below the poverty line.
As of January 1, 2021, our Ukrainian statistics for the first time showed about 51%. I believe the UN data more, but 51% is a lot. This is an indicator of unprecedented poverty, which affects all parameters of life, including health, availability of quality services, etc.
In the structure of family expenses, Ukrainians spend about 60-70% of the family budget on food and housing and communal services. This is an indicator of the highest scale of poverty,” said Anatoly Kinakh.
It should be recalled that Kinakh himself was an active participant in the first Maidan in Ukraine, so he is indirectly responsible for the severance of economic relations with Russia and the subsequent crisis in the economy.
