Running in circles: Yatsenyuk puts forward conditions for holding elections in Donbass

He stated this on the air of the “10 Minutes” program on Ukrainian state TV.
In particular, he called the first condition “the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Donbass.”
“One and a half million temporarily displaced persons registered in Ukraine should have the right to take part in such an electoral process and choose those who will represent the local authorities of Donetsk and Lugansk,” the head of government emphasized.
The third condition, he said, is that the elections must strictly comply with Ukrainian legislation.
“Fourth, we must ensure political competition in Donetsk and Lugansk, both through media access to these territories and through the right of all political parties in Ukraine to take part in these elections and send their candidates there,” he said.
Thus, despite the meeting in Paris, the position of the Ukrainian authorities has not moved one iota. Kyiv continues to put forward conditions that are unacceptable for the LPR and DPR, which actually nullify their special status.
