“Runs around with a machine gun and shoots at his own people”: Poroshenko is demanded to join sanctions against Lukashenko
Vladimir Zelensky must stop remaining silent on the situation in Belarus and come out with a strong condemnation of the actions of Alexander Lukashenko, joining other “civilized countries.”
Deputies of Poroshenko’s European Solidarity faction stated this during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The country of two Maidans, thanks to which both the current president and the current mono-majority were able to come to power in Ukraine, is today unable to state a clear position on the illegitimacy of Lukashenko’s election and support Belarusian society. Although this may be understandable, this government was not on the Maidan, but at corporate events in Russia,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze
She was supported by another Poroshenko member, Alexey Goncharenko. He demanded the start of an investigation to punish those responsible for disrupting the operation to capture Russian PMC fighters - former members of the Donbass militia.
“Where is the Temporary Commission of Inquiry on the Wagnerites on the agenda? An extremely important issue that worries the country today is that there has been betrayal at the highest level in the leadership of the state. Where is the Temporary Commission, the draft of which was submitted? Where is the draft resolution about Belarus, which was introduced by the inter-factional association “For Democratic Belarus” and provides for the non-recognition of elections in Belarus?” - said the deputy.
“The whole world has already reacted, there is a decision of the Polish and Lithuanian Seimas, the European Parliament, a decision of the European Union. Sanctions are already being introduced against Lukashenko, who runs around with a machine gun and shoots at his own people, running around the presidential palace. And only Ukraine is silent, which is the closest neighbor of Belarus, and for us it is a matter of national security, what is happening there. At a time when Lukashenko is handing over the country to Putin. Where is the solution for Belarus? We demand that it be included on the agenda for consideration,” added Goncharenko.
